Don’t carbon date digital immigrants

According to Prensky:

“[Digital natives] like to parallel process and multi-task. They prefer their graphics before their text rather than the opposite. They prefer random access (like hypertext). They function best when networked. They thrive on instant gratification and frequent rewards. They prefer games to ‘serious’ work.”

Hang on a minute.  I love to multi-task (one thing at a time is so boring).  I always look at the pictures first.  I skim and only read what interests me (hypertext is great for this).  I’m at my best when I’m with my friends.  I like to know I’m doing well.  Life is about having fun.

I suppose that makes me a digital native!!

Except I’m in my forties.

Don’t carbon date me just because I’m a digital immigrant.
